  • KISD started the process of moving out from KHS Library due to the district closure and give the contractor extra time to complete that portion of work.

Option 3C:
  • This option pushes the new classroom wing and cafeteria closer to the exiting school
  • Will require demolition of existing classroom wing, Cafeteria and Kitchen all at the same time in order to build the new addition all at the same time
  • Will require portables to replace demolished classrooms
  • Existing Cafeteria and Kitchen will need to be offline during construction of the new one
  • Choir stays where it is existing, and Dance uses existing small gym. Only Theater and Band in the new addition
  • Field House is an alternate: this option has more components in the Field House alternate than the other two options. Included in the alternate are the training room, weight rooms and wrestling room.
  • PBK will further refine option 3C and provide an additional option that is strictly interior renovation.
  • PBK and American Constructors will identify and propose possible areas to be designed and permitted for construction during summer 2019.
  • PBK to propose boring locations for Geotechnical Engineering investigations.
 
September 28, 2018
  • PBK provided a preliminary massing study of a second design option to facilitate construction phasing and reduce cost. PBK is working on a layout for the corresponding floor plans. This layout will be submitted for KISD’s review by the middle of the week.
  • The consultant’s walk-through field investigation occurred on 9/26/18. The information gathered is currently being compiled.
